Wondering how to change the battery of your Timex watch at home? Check out our video tutorial on how to replace the battery for your Timex Indiglo watch. In this article, we show you how to change a CR 1216 watch battery step by step.

How to replace the watch battery on a Timex Indiglo step by step

Changing the battery of your Timex watch can be a pretty simple thing to do. Especially if you have a bit of experience with repairing stuff, or if you're a passionate watch collector or vintage enthusiast.

These are a few steps you should follow, to make sure all goes well:

Step 1: Determine what type of battery you need for your watch. For most Timex watches, the battery type is indicated on the case back. In our case, we will need a CR 1216 battery.

Step 2: Find out what tools you need for the battery replacement. Ideally, you should have a case opener (you can use a sharp knife as well, but we don't recommend it if you haven't done this before); a thin pair of tweezers (see video), and a watch press, to close the case after replacing the battery.

Please note that the watch used in our tutorial has a snap-off case back. Some other types of case backs may need to be opened in different ways.

Step 3:  Take out the case back with your case opener and carefully remove the battery with your pair of tweezers. You can also remove it with your fingers, but make sure to take it out lightly, in order not to damage anything. Remember how the old battery was placed inside the watch, so that you can place the new one in the exact same way.

Step 4: Place the new battery inside the watch carefully, until it stays in place (see video). Check if the watch starts ticking, before closing it.

Step 5: Close the watch by pressing the case-back back in place either with your hands, either with a watch press.
