Introducing the VIRTUOSO™ Series 6 Watch Winder by Enigwatch

Posted by Lavinia Bejan on

On the market for a high-quality, good-looking watch winder? So were we. And we got the chance to test the VIRTUOSO™ Series 6 Watch Winder by Enigwatch. Let us introduce you to this beautiful watch winder and display case, and let's discover some of its useful features!

What is a watch winder?

Simply put, a watch winder is a device that keeps your watch wound. A watch winder is usually a case where you can place either one watch, or more. The watches will spin inside the case with a regular frequency, in a manner that replicates the movement of the watch worn on the wrist.

What kind of watches can I put in my watch winder?

It's important to know that watch winders are designed for automatic watches only. Automatic watches have a mechanical movement inside equipped with a rotor that keeps powering the watch as you wear it. The movement of your wrist is what helps keeping the watch wound.

If you wear your automatic watch religiously every single day, you won't need a watch winder. But if you have a collection of watches, some of them will inevitably end up on a table or in a storage box for long periods of time.

A watch winder is not only a beautiful case where you can elegantly display these watches, but also a device that will help keep them wound. In this way, whenever you pick up a watch from your collection and decide to wear it for the day, you'll know that the timepiece is wound and ready to go.

So, if you're an automatic watch enthusiast, a watch winder may be a good investment for you.

It's important to know that watch winders will not work on a manual-winding mechanical watch. You'll still need to wind your watch regularly and set the time. Nor will a watch winder help with quartz watches, which solely rely on battery power, and don't need winding.

The dark tones of the wood, paired with the black aesthetic on the inside of the box, create a unique vintage charm. Thus, whether you keep the watch winder on your desk, in your office, or in your walk-in closet, it will just as beautifully shine light on your collection of watches.

Useful features

Now that we had a peek at the design of the watch winder, let's discover the specs that make the VIRTUOSO™ Series 6 a wise investment.

With a capacity to wind 6 watches simultaneously, the winder relies on the Soundless Japanese Mabuchi® Technology, with rotors that spin silently, allowing you to truly enjoy the sight and sound of your watches spinning harmoniously.

Thanks to the ingeniously-designed telescopic watch pillows, you can safely place a variety of watch models in your winder, no matter the wrist size. In addition to being easy to use, the watch pillows, like their name suggests, are soft and offer protection to your watches, which can be of great comfort for vintage watch collectors.

Finally, let's get to the most important part: the watch winding. The VIRTUOSO™ Series 6 features a touch-screen display system that allows you to control the winding process and the lights. You can also set it remotely, using the remote control that you'll receive in the package with your winder.

The VIRTUOSO™ Series 6 allows you to customize your watch-winding process. For example, you can set your prefered watch winding frequency: the total number of turns per day, from 395 to 1950 TPD. And you also have the option to change the direction in which the watches will spin.

If you're unsure about the recommended number of turns per day for your watch model, Enigwatch provide a list for watch models from top brands, such as Rolex, Panerai, Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and Hublot. A really cool feature of this winder is the Individual Programmable Rotor, which allows you to personalize the winding settings for each watch model in particular.

To top it off, the watch winder comes with incorporated lights that can be turned on to better showcase the beauty of your timepieces. But we'll let you discover this feature in all its merit in our YouTube video, where you can see the watch winder in action!

Choosing the best watch winder for your needs

Because we have a rather large watch collection, we opted for the VIRTUOSO™ Series 6, which has a capacity for 6 watch models. However, you should know that this model is also available with 2 watch rotors, and, for the most adventurous watch collectors, Enigwatch also released a 12-piece watch winder box.

In terms of shipping times and responsiveness, our experience with Enigwatch was simply great. In addition to that, their watch winders come with a 2-year warranty, an instruction manual, and they have a useful blog that you can check out to learn more about watch winders and watches in general.
