Omega x Swatch Collab: the Bioceramic Omega Speedmaster MoonSwatch

If you're a Swatch fan, or an Omega watch lover, you have surely heard of the exciting Omega x Swatch collaboration. The collection of 11 Bioceramic MoonSwatch models inspired by the iconic Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch was released on March 26, 2022. And it enjoyed an overwhelming success. So many people are waiting to get their hands on a MoonSwatch model.

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection

The Omega x Swatch collection comprises 11 different Bioceramic MoonSwatch watches, with a 42-mm Bioceramic case, quartz movement, velcro straps, and chronograph functions. But the key differentiator from other Swatch watches is, of course, the collaboration with Omega: the watches are designed to look very similar to the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

Why the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch? This was the first watch to be worn on the moon. That is why, it was called the "Moonwatch". And that's also why the Omega x Swatch collection is inspired by the earth and outer space. They've designed an Omega-inspired "MoonSwatch".

What you should also know is that Omega is a brand owned by the Swatch group. Their watches are of superior quality, and in a much higher price range. Among other things, the classic Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is powered by an impressive mechanical movement, whereas the MoonSwatch is a quartz watch.

Also a key difference is that the MoonSwatch comes with a bioceramic case. According to the Swatch website, bioceramic is a blend of ceramic and bio-sourced plastic. They've been using this more sustainable material for their latest watch models, instead of plastic.

How much is the Swatch x Omega Speedmaster MoonSwatch? And where can you buy it?

The Swatch x Omega Speedmaster MoonSwatch watches have a retail price of $260, and are available in selected Swatch stores all over the world. You can check out their website to look for the Swatch store that is nearest to your location.

Since the collection was so successful, and there were so many people queuing to get their hands on a MoonSwatch, there is currently limited availability. At first, they announced people were only allowed to purchase two watches per person, and now you can only purchase one. Of course, some stores no longer have these watches in stock at all.

However, Swatch have announced that this is not a limited edition release. And that the watches will be available for purchase online, at a later date.

Hidden Details on the Dial and Case of the Swatch x Omega Speedmaster MoonSwatch

Lastly, let's look at some of the hidden details on the dial and case of the beautiful MoonSwatch models.

First of all, there is the hidden "S" at the center of the dial/crystal:

Then, we have the dot over "90" placed in a particular position, on the bezel of the watch:

And then we also have particular design details for each model. For example, a sub-dial of the MISSION TO SATURN watch features Saturn's rings:
